The Dassault-Breguet Super Etendard (Etendard is French for ‘battle flag’) is a French carrier-borne strike fighter aircraft designed by Dassault-Breguet. With design and uprated engine power, the first Super Etendard flew on the 29th October 1974 and entered service with the French Navy in 1978. The type achieved considerable fame for the Argentine Navy during the 1982 Falklands conflict, and the Iraq Navy Super Etendards carried out many attacks against shipping in the Persian Gulf during the 1985-85 period.
