Background
The Trabant 601, the third and most built model of the Trabant series, was manufactured from 1964 by the VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke in Zwickau. With over 2.8 million units produced, the Trabant 601 became a symbol of mobility in the former GDR. The body made of duroplast and the air-cooled two-cylinder two-stroke engine with its unmistakable soundscape made the Trabant unique.
